Can I be seen right now?Yes. The beauty of an Emergency Walk In Center is that you can walk right in. An appointment or referral is never necessary. If you prefer to schedule your same day doctors appointment you can click “book an appointment” above.
How is urgent care different from Primary Care?Our Manhattan urgent care is not a substitute for having a primary care doctor, but it’s a great place to go when you can’t get a same day doctors appointment. As an emergency walk in center we are open 365 days/year including weekends, evenings and holidays.
Our Board Certified Emergency Medicine doctors are skilled at treating all the illnesses, injuries and other everyday medical problems you would normally see your primary care doctor for. But because we are ER doctors, we also X ray and set fractures, offer stitches, use IV fluids and start medications in our office, making us a great ER Alternative for minor emergencies that are beyond the scope of what primary care doctors can treat. How is urgent care different from an ER?The ER is best suited to care for life threatening emergencies. But 40% of ailments treated in the ER are not true emergencies and can be cared for more comfortably, efficiently and affordably in an emergency walk in center like Medhattan Immediate Medical Care. You can rest assured that we are staffed by the same ER doctors you would see in NYC’s best ERs. We have X ray and labs on site so you will have results in minutes. How do I know if I have a true emergency that requires an ER or if I can go to an ER alternative?Life threatening emergencies require an ER. If you are in active labor, think you may be having a heart attack or stroke, or think you may need surgery or hospital admission, call 911 or head to the nearest ER. Otherwise, know that our beautiful Manhattan urgent care in downtown NYC is an ER alternative offering the highest quality medical care.
What are the advantages of going to Medhattan vs the ER?Medhattan Immediate Medical Care is an immaculate, convenient, affordable place to obtain same day walk in immediate medical care in Manhattan. We charge urgent care rates and co- pays, not Emergency Room rates and co-pays, so we are about a quarter of the cost of an ER visit and can usually have you in and out in an hour. What kind of doctors will I see at Medhattan?Medhattan is staffed by 15 of the highest caliber board certified ER doctors. They are the same doctors you might see at the best ERs in NYC, but instead you can see them at our beautiful downtown Manhattan urgent care center. Among our staff are graduates of Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia and other prestigious institutions. Many of our doctors have published research or hold hospital appointments such as Chairman or Director of their department. At our emergency walk in center, we know you shouldn’t have to compromise quality for efficiency. At Medhattan you never have to.”
Does Medhattan treat children?Yes. We offer pediatric immediate care 365 days/year, including weekends and holidays. Many local pediatric practices rely on us to provide pediatric after hours care.
Our emergency walk in center features a dedicated private kids room with a decor that delights, a kid’s zone in our waiting area with DVD players and interactive art, and a refreshment station with fresh fruit and healthy snacks.

Is Medhattan affordable?Given the quality of our emergency care physicians, the luxury of our offices and the incredible customer service we offer, you will find that our walk in family medical care center is an extremely affordable ER alternative with visits starting at as little as $200. We believe in principled pricing, so although you will be cared for by some of the best doctors in Manhattan, you will likely pay 1/4 of what you would in the ER while being seen in a fraction of the time. Does Medhattan charge ER rates for services and co-payments?Absolutely not. Some of our competitors at NYC urgent cares drum up a big bill charging ER rates and co payments when they are not in fact even an ER. At our Manhattan urgent care we charge urgent care co payments and rates, which are usually just slightly higher than primary care rates.
What if I am uninsured?If you pay out of pocket for your health care, then you owe it to yourself to explore and familiarize yourself with the ER Alternatives and Emergency walk in centers in Manhattan. NYC Emergency Rooms are extremely expensive. It can cost $800 just to walk in. At our Manhattan urgent care center you can be seen by the same doctors at rates that start at $200. Do I need a referral from my doctor to come to Medhattan?You never need a referral to come to Medhattan Immediate Medical Care. Because we are a certified urgent care center, you may obtain same day walk in medical care 365 days per year. We are an ER alternative for all non life threatening minor emergencies and injuries.
How long does a visit at Medhattan usually take?Unless you require a medical procedure or IV fluids, most of our patients are in and out in an hour. When you’re not feeling well you will appreciate that we have a lab, X ray, EKG and sonogram all under one roof. And because we can dispense common medications, we may even be able to save you a trip to the pharmacy.
What if I need to be admitted to the hospital?Our Manhattan urgent care center is not an ER. We are an ER alternative for non life threatening illnesses or injuries. If you are experiencing a heart attack, stroke, active labor or a condition that requires immediate surgery a hospital ER is the place you should be. Should we discover that one of our patients is suffering from a life threatening illness or injury, we will arrange transportation via ambulance to the most appropriate NYC emergency room. Our emergency physicians will call ahead to ensure a smooth transition and will do all that emergency personnel would do until that time.
